Do You Know God's Will For Your Life?

“What is God’s Will for my life?”  “How do I know what God’s Will is?”  “How do I know who God’s Will is for me to marry?”  “How do I know if this job is God’s Will for me?”  “How do I know what college or university is God’s Will for me?” “Is it God’s Will for me to be in the ministry?”

God’s Will for You is not hidden from You.

God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.  He cares about His children both collectively and individually.  He is for you and He wants you to experience Him and the gift of life to the fullest possible.  Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  God is very clear here in this passage of Scripture that He has thoughts and plans for each of us.  He has an expected end or goal for each of our lives.  He is interested in you.  He has thoughts of peace and not of evil towards you.  He is not hiding from you and waiting for you to mess up so He can send a lightning bolt or two after you.  He wants you to trust His plan and follow it, because it is a path filled with peace and blessings along the journey and not just at the end.

God’s Will for You is specific to You.

God’s love for you is specific to you.  Jesus died on the cross for your sins.  He paid the price for you for all eternity.  Since God’s love for you is specific to you, so is His will specific to you.  For Queen Esther, she fulfilled God’s plan during a specific time in history.  She was God’s woman for a specific time in the history of the Israelites to protect the whole race of people known as the Jews.  Because she was bold and went before the King without being requested by him, she was able to gain his protection for all of her people. Esther 4:14b reads, “And who knoweth, whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

God’s Will for You is specific for You.

In Jeremiah 1:5 God states to Jeremiah, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Wow!  That is a phenomenal statement.  Life begins at conception. God told Jeremiah that before he was conceived, God knew him specifically and had a call on his life to be a prophet before he was born.  So does God only care about ministers specifically? No.  God cares about all of His humans that He made in His image specifically.  He does not care for one more so than another or any less of one than the other.  We misperceive that He shows favoritism sometimes.  But that does not mean that God’s Will for you is worse or better than someone else’s.  Contentment or the lack thereof does not determine God’s Will for you either.

*Trust God and His Will (plan/path) for you.  Ask Him, “God, is this decision/direction Your Will?”

*Trust God for your fulfillment in life. Ask Him, “God, will You fulfill the desires You put in my heart?”

*Fulfill His plan, His Will, for you and you will find fulfillment. Tell Him, “I don’t understand this, but I trust You.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Psalms 37:4-5 - “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
